MANILA, Philippines — Kinastigo ng Alliance of Concerned Teachers-Philippines ang patuloy na red-tagging ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa mga progresibong guro sa ikaapat na sunod na araw ngayong linggo imbis na tugunan ang mga hinaing nila sa sektor ng mga kaguruan.
Ito ang inilahad ng ACT, Biyernes, sa patuloy na pag-uugnay ni Bise Presidente Sara Duterte-Carpio, na tumatayo rin bilang Education secretary, sa kanila sa mga rebeldeng komunista sa gitna ng panawagan nilang mag-hire ng karagdagang 30,000 guro sa mga pampublikong paaralan — maliban pa sa P100 bilyong budget taun-taon para sa classrooms.

Ang arawang atake ni Duterte-Carpio ay nagsimula pa noong ika-27 ng Marso, bagay na nagpatuloy hanggang ngayong araw.
Maliban sa pag-uugnay ng bise presidente sa ACT Teachers sa New People's Army at Communist Party of the Philippines, idinidiin ng bise ang grupo sa kanilang "tahimikan" kuno sa "pag-atake" ng NPA sa anim na bayan ng Masbate na siyang nakaapekto na sa 55,199 estudyante at 2,815 school personnel.
"Moreover, past DepEd secretaries didn't engage in daily redtagging spree against progressive educators. Some of them even warmly appreciate progressive teachers' inputs and at times critical yet constructive perspectives," dagdag pa ni David Michael San Juan kanina, isa sa mga nominado ng ACT Teachers party-list noong 2022.
"Kung totoong para sa bata at para sa bansa, dapat tigilan na ang patutsada at magtulungan na lang. Which means, the DepEd secretary should learn how to listen and cooperate with teachers. Accept the fact that when progressive teachers propose solutions, these are based on actual experience and expert opinion."
Ilan lang sa mga labang napagtagumpayan ng ACT Teachers party-list sa mga nakaraang Konggreso ang mga sumusunod:
- mas mataas na cash allowances
- mas mataas na uniform
- tax exemption ng 13th month pay atbp. bonuses
- internet allowance para sa public school teachers
- regularisasyon ng mga kontraktwal na guro
- free medical check-up sa public school teachers
DepEd: Hindi kami bulag sa problema
Lunes lang nang sabihin ni Duterte na "unrealistic" at "imposible" ang mga demand ng ACT sa pagkuha ng mga guro at dagdag budget. Aniya, dinisenyo lang daw para "kontrahin ang solusyon ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr." sa sektor ng edukasyon.
Gayunpaman, hindi naman daw sila bulag sa mfga problema lalo na't plano naman daw talaga ng DepEd kumuha ng dagdag na teaching at non-teaching staff ngayong 2023.
"For 12 years, ACT Teachers has been claiming to represent teachers in Congress. Yet our public school personnel continue to face financial woes and we have a generation of learners that are facing several challenges," sabi ni Duterte-Carpio kanina.
"What has this self-proclaimed education sector representative done to remedy the problems we are facing now?"
"And for 12 years now, ACT Teachers cannot even publicly and explicitly condemn the violence perpetrated by the terrorist group NPA against our learners, our teachers, and other school personnel."
'Duterte fake education leader'
Sa huli't huli, naninindigan ang ACT Teachers party-list na sila ang tunay na boses ng mga guro sa loob ng Kamara habang nananatiling bulaang pinuno naman daw si Duterte.
Hanggang sa ngayon, wala pa rin daw kasing teaching overload pay, respite mula sa non-teaching duties at napapanahong benepisyo ang mga guro. Bukod pa raw ito sa pagtutol ng DepEd secretary sa salary increase at pagpapatayo ng karagdagang guro.
Tinawag din nilang "dictatorial" ang DepEd Order 8 series of 2023 ni Duterte-Carpio, na siyang nagdi-discourage sa mga gurong sumali sa mga community service work.
"No amount of vilification can smear the stellar record of ACT Teachers Partylist in advancing the interests of the education sector, nor can it cover up the glaring inefficacy of Sara Duterte’s leadership in the Department of Education," dagdag pa ng party-list kahapon.
"[W]ith her penchant for red-tagging and her militaristic style of leadership, she is better appointed as the Department of National Defense head or the spokesperson for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict."
