MANILA, Philippines — Isinailalim na sa Alert Level 2 ang Bulkang Mayon dahil sa tumitinding pag-aalboroto nito at patuloy na "asiesmic growth" ng lava dome nito, ayon sa pahayag ng Phivolcs, Biyernes.
Matatandaang itinaas mula Alert Level 0 patungong Alert Level 1 ang bulkan nitong ika-21 ng Agosto, 2022.
"This means that there is current unrest driven by shallow magmatic processes that could eventually lead to phreatic eruptions of even precede hazardous magmatic eruption," ayon sa state volcanologists ngayong araw.
"As of 4 October 2022, the lava dome has increased in volume by approximately 48,000 m3 since 20 August 2022."

Ngayong umaga lang nang makumpirma ang pagkakaroon ng sariwang "extruded" lava sa paanan ng summit lava dome.
Ika-1 lang ng Oktubre nang masukat ang sulfur dioxide levels nito sa avarage na 391 t/d, bagay na mas mababa sa baseline levels.
"The public is strongly advised to be vigilant and desist from entering the six (6) kilometer-radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) to minimize risks from sudden explosions, rockfall and landslides," dagdag pa ng Phivolcs.
"In case of ash fall events that may affect communities downwind of Mayon's crater, people should cover their nose and mouth with damp, clean cloth or dust mask."
Pinapayuhan din ng civil aviation authorities ang mga piloto na iwasang lumipat malapit sa bunganga ng bulkan dahil dahil maaaring maging delikado sa eroplano ang biglaang mga pagputok. — James Relativo
