Duterte tinanggap pagbibitiw ni Morales sa PhilHealth, naghahanap na ng kapalit
MANILA, Philippines — Pormal nang tinanggap ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at pamunuan ng Department of Health (DOH) ang pagbibitiw sa pwesto ni Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) President at chief executive officer Ricardo Morales.
Kahapon nang isimite ni Morales ang kanyang resignation letter, bagay na natanggap din ng Office of the President noong ika-26 ng Agosto.
"Tinanggap natin at ni pangulo ang kaniyang pagbibitiw sa pwesto dahil sa kaniyang kalusugan," wika ni Duque sa ulat ng CNN Philippines, Huwebes.
Una nang sinabi ni Morales na sumasailalim siya sa chemotherapy dahil sa iniindang lymphoma, na isang uri ng cancer.
Kasabay ito ngayon ng mga isinasagawang imbestigasyon sa aniya'y pagbulsa ng PhilHealth officials sa P15 bilyong pondo ng ahensya, isyu ng overpriced information and communications technology (ICT) equipment at pagpabor daw sa ilang ospital, bagay na itinatanggi ni Morales.
Tinatanggap na rin daw nina Duque, na chair ng PhilHealth, ang pagbibitiw ni PhilHealth Senior Vice President Rodolfo del Rosario Jr.
Saad pa ni Duque, naghahanap na si Duterte ng papalit kay Morales sa pwesto. Aniya, ilan sa mga skills na hinahanap sa hahalili ay sa larangan ng "financing, accounting" at "legal background."

Ilang araw pa lang ang nakalilipas nang sabihin ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra na "mainam na magbitiw" na lang sa pwesto si Morales dahil sa kanyang sakit.
"I am thankful to the President after he after he allowed me to take a rest. Now I can focus on my health and family," wika ng outgoing Philhealth president, na isang retiradong militar.
Tiniyak naman ng DOH na sisiguruhin ni PhilHealth officer-in-charge Arnel de Jesus ang uninterrupted operations ng state-run health insurer. Dati nang nagtratrabaho bilang executive vice president at chief operating officer ng ahensya si De Jesus.
