Mandatory ROTC sa Grades 11, 12
MANILA, Philippines — Planong buhayin ni Pangulong Duterte ang mandatory ROTC sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalabas ng isang executive order.
Ginawa ni Pangulong Duterte ang pahayag sa pagdalo nito sa 35th founding anniversary of Army Reserve Command sa Tanza, Cavite kamakalawa.
Nanawagan ang Pangulo sa Kongreso na ipasa nito ang panukalang Reservists Employment Rights Act at magpasa ng batas para sa mandatory ROTC sa Grade 11 at 12.
“Let me take this opportunity to ask Congress to expedite the passage of the Reservist Employment Rights Act that is currently pending in both houses of Congress,” wika pa ni Pangulong Duterte.
“I likewise encourage [Congress] to enact a law that will require mandatory ROTC for grades 11 and 12 so we can instill patriotism, love of country among our youth,” dagdag pa nito.
Kung hindi tutugon ang Kongreso sa kanyang panawagan ay magpapalabas na lamang siya ng executive order para sa mandatory ROTC.
“Ewan ko kung madali ito ng EO. Kapag madali ang EO siguro, executive order, baka mapilitan ako if they will not act on it. I said that this is a constitutional requirement that you must prepare to defend your country,” sabi pa ng Pangulo.
