MANILA, Philippines — Nanawagan ng ‘ceasefire’ ang Malacañang sa lider ng Simbahang Katoliko na bumabatikos kay Pangulong Duterte.

“It’s always bilateral. If there’s going to be a cessation of hostile language, it has to be from both institutions,” pahayag ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.

“I think it’s not just the President who should be told that as we hold this dialogue, that perhaps there should be ceasefire. It should also be told to some Church leaders as well,” dagdag ni Roque.

Nagkaroon ng tension sa pagitan ng Simbahan at Duterte matapos ang pahayag nitong “stupid God”, pagkuwestyon sa theory of creation, pagkakaroon ng langit at impiyerno at Last Supper.

Dahil dito, bumuo ng 4-man team noong nakaraang linggo si Pangulong Duterte para makipag-dayalogo sa Simbahan at iba pang religious groups upang mapahupa ang iringan.

Gagawin ang one-on-one dialogue sa pagitan ng Pangulo at Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Romulo Valles sa Malacañang sa Lunes, Hulyo 9.

Kaugnay nito, positibo ang Pangulo na magkakasundo sila ni Valles na aniya’y katulad niyang palabiro at madalas magpatawa.

Iginiit pa ni Pangulong Duterte na ayaw niya ng away sa Simbahang Katolika kaya sa kanilang meeting daw ng CBCP head, sasabihin nito na gawin lang nila ang kanilang mga dapat gawin at gagawin lang din niya ang kanyang tungkulin sa bayan.
