UN itinangging inutusang isuko ng mga Pinoy ang armas
MANILA, Philippines — Sinalo ng United Nations (UN) si United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) Commander Lt. Gen. Iqbal Singh Singha matapos mabatikos dahil sa umano'y kautusan sa mga Pinoy peacekeepers na isuko ang mga armas sa rebelde.
Pinabulaanan ni UN Undersecretary for Peacekeeping Operations Hervé Ladsous na iniutos ni Singha sa mga Pinoy na isuko sa Syrian rebels ang kanilang armas matapos silang mapalibutan sa Golan Heights.
"They were never under such specific orders," pahayag ni Ladsous. "It's a matter of judgment. But, I would say again than General Singha has exercised good sound judgment all along that process."
Dagdag niya na inisip lamang ni Singha ang kaligtasan ng mga naipit na sundalo.
"Then there are times when other considerations including about the safety of the people come in; and then you have to possibly refrain from proactive stands–that means some shooting back really-because that might put other people in danger.”
Nauna nang sinabi ni Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang na sinuway ng mga Pilipino ang kautusan ni Singha at humanap ng tyempo para makatakas.
Dagdag niya na pitong oras pang nakipagpalitan ng putok ang mga Pinoy peacekeepers bago nagawa ang tinaguriang “greatest escape.”
"Gen. Singha ordered no military operations. So, it's still to be investigated, why the order of Gen. Singha was, there will be no reinforcement. Because he was already there, we were monitoring him. And then all of a sudden, he changed his mind.
