Bagong PNP chief maging patas sa 2013 polls - UNA

MANILA, Philippines - Nanawagan ang United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) kay Philippine National Police (PNP) Deputy Director General Alan Purisima na manatiling walang pinapa­nigan at umiwas sa pulitika sa sandaling maluklok bilang susunod na PNP chief.

Si Purisima ang napili ni Pangulong Aquino III na pumalit kay Director General Nicanor Bartolome na maagang pinagretiro.

Ayon kay UNA Secretary General Toby Tiangco, magsisilbi umanong hamon sa bagong PNP chief ang pagtulong na mapanatili ang honest, transparent and peaceful 2013 elections. 

“Our people expect the PNP to be neutral and to stay away from partisan politics. We hope the incoming PNP chief can rise to this challenge,” sabi ni Tiangco.

Nagbabala rin si Tiangco na maaring mawalan ng tiwala ang publiko sa gobyerno kung makikita nitong ang kapulisan ay kumikiling sa isang partido pulitikal.

“If the PNP is seen by our people as favoring certain politicians and political groups, it will undermine the people’s faith in the government’s reform agenda. It will be seen as a return to the discredited practice of the past regime,” sabi ni Tiangco.

Si Purisima na kasalukuyang hepe ng PNP directorial staff ay inaasahang pupuwesto bilang new PNP chief bago matapos ang taon.
