Boy Abunda tiyak na hindi na mabilang ang kinikita
Boy

Birthday last Tuesday, October 29, ni Boy Abunda.

Without us asking him, he shared some precious moment yesterday with his Mom, Lising Abunda, now in her 90s and afflicted with Dementia.

He owes his Mom a lot, ani Boy. What he used to be and what he has become, he owes it to his Mom.

King of Talk is just one precious title in showbiz attributed to him. He is, likewise, a publicist, talent manager and a well-admired speaker in seminars, etc. Plus celebrity endorser.

Minsan, gusto naming tanungin si Boy kung nabibilang pa niya ang kanyang earnings.

In any case, Boy’s latest take is his having been chosen judge ng newest breakthrough talent-reality format Your Moment, a collaboration between ABS-CBN and Dutch powerhouse creator, Fritz Productions.

The show will spotlight on Filipino and foreign singing and dancing acts, yes from all ages. Two grand champions in each talent category ang pipiliin.

Boy’s two fellow judges are Billy Crawford and Nadine Lustre.

Hosting Your Moment, which debut on Philippine TV on November 9, are Luis Manzano and Vhong Navarro.

Vhong hindi akalaing sisikat

Speaking of Vhong, he never thought he’ll get this far in showbiz. Yes, na bukod sa pagiging host ng It’s Showtime, he will, too, act on TV and the movies.

He started as a dancer, became part of the dance group, Streetboys and then nga, naging actor, a comedian, plus singer din.

Right now, he’s doing a comedy movie, Mang Kepweng and napapanood every Saturday as one of the funny members of the cast ng popular sitcom ng Home Sweetie Home: Extra Sweet who include Luis Manzano, Toni and Alex Gonzaga, Rio Locsin and young talents Miles Ocampo and Clarence Delgado.

By the way, do you know that Vhong’s real first name is Ferdinand and his family name, Hipolito.

He was born during the Martial Law days (1977). Thus, his dad’s decision to name him Ferdinand.

James nagkaroon din ng depression dahil sa bashing

Nakaranas pala ng depression si James Reid, at may kinalaman daw ito sa kanyang showbiz career.

For a time raw, he mentioned to Boy Abunda, when he guested in his late night show, TWBA (Tonight With Boy Abunda), nakaranas siya ng bashings from both some of his followers and non-followers.

Sobrang sakit daw ang kanyang naramdaman that he almost wanted to quit showbiz na.

Until Nadine, of course, the love of his life, came to his rescue, kumbaga. She advised him to take things in stride. And plod on, so to speak.

Which is what he did.

He denies, though, na may kinalaman ang depression na nadama niya sa desisyon niya to exit from his contract with Viva Films. Nagkataon lang daw na nagtapos na ang kanyang contract with the film company. At nag-decide siya with the help of his dad, Malcolm Reid, to create a new path where his career is concerned.

He has organized a music label which, henceforth, ay siyang magiging label ng kanyang mga ire-record na songs. And those who would join him in his recording business.

Will this include Nadine?

Nadine, right now, of course, is busy with Your Moment.

Of course, we all know, na may gagawing series si James with ABS-CBN, which will co-star him with a pretty Korean talent.

Jasmine parang si Anne sa kabisihan

Equally busy as her older sister, Anne Curtis, is Jasmine Curtis Smith, who has two movies na iso-showing both this November.

Set to premiere on November 6, 10pm at the Trinoma cinema is the Cinema One Original’s O co-starring Jasmine with Anna Luna, Sarah Carlos at Lauren Young.

A black comedy, it is directed by Kevin Dayrit, who also directed Catnip, which won several awards sa nakaraang Cinema One Originals.

The Cinema One Originals is now on its 15th year.

Jasmine also co-stars with Ruru Madrid in Cara X Jagger, a production of APT Entertainment and Cignal TV and directed by Ice Idanan.

Set to open naman in cinemas nationwide itong Cara X Jagger on November 13.
