Wow naman, Salve A., Alex Gonzaga, younger and only sister of Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga, is even busier than Toni these days.

While Toni only has her weekly sitcom, Home Sweetie Home, with John Lloyd Cruz and, of course, as host of the new season Pinoy Big Brother (PBB), si Alex, maliban sa pagiging mainstay of the two popular gag shows, Banana Nite at Banana Split, will soon start with a new series.

Titled Pure Love, it is an adaptation of a popular Korean telenovela. Alex will have two leading men, sina Arjo Atayde at Joseph Marco.

And guess what? She has been added to the line-up of hosts ng bagong PBB, who include, aside from her sister, Toni, Bianca Gonzales, Robi Domingo, at John Prats.

It’s not Alex’ first time to play co-host to her ate. Sa nakaraang The Voice of the Philippines, naging junior co-host sila ni Robi sa nabanggit na reality program with Toni as the main host.

‘Di kaya ma-insecure si Toni, dahil kumbaga, paangat nang paangat ang showbiz career ni Alex?

 â€œI doubt it,” sagot ni Alex. “If at all, happy siya sa mangyayari sa aking showbiz career.

 â€œAt ‘di ba may kasabihang the original is always best.

 â€œWell, ako sa ate ko ang kasabihang iyan. Dahil, as far as I’m concerned she is the best TV host sa entertainment industry.”

IC concentrated sa beauty pageant

Bagama’t happy si IC Mendoza sa magagandang nagaganap sa showbiz career ni Alex (Gonzaga), mula nang lumipat ito sa ABS-CBN (they were formerly TV5 talents), may panghihinayang na nararamdaman si IC. Pakiwari raw kasi niya hindi na sila magkakatrabaho ni Alex.

At TV5 kasi he and Alex were a tandem. They were part of the roster of hosts ng showbiz program na Juicy. Kasama nila sina Cristy Fermin, Shalala at Direk Joey Javier Reyes.

Tulad ni Alex, he is no longer an exclusive talent of TV5. Although part siya ng series na Confessions of a Torpe na bida sina Ogie Alcasid at Gelli de Belen.

As a freelancer, IC said, free siya to do projects for other networks. And to do movies too, for iba’t ibang film firm.

Once nga ay naka-appear na siya sa isang produksiyon ng Viva Films, A Secret Affair.

Though no longer as busy facing the TV and mo­vie cameras, IC still has his hands full sa iba’t ibang projects he is currently saddled with.

For example, he now writes regularly for a movie magazine which her sister, Bianca (Carvajal-Mendoza) edits.

He is now also into PR (public relations), with the nationwide search for Filipina earth ambassadors as one of his projects. Aim nito to encourage children and teenagers to participate in the search for Miss Teen Earth and Little Miss Earth Philippines, headed by the pageant trademark owner, Vas Bismark.

In a separate interview with Mr. Bismark, he related that he and his team travelled to the Visayas, Luzon, and Mindanao, para maghanap ng mga puwedeng sumali at manalo.

Ginanap ang regional auditions sa Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Ilo­ilo, Cebu, Naga, Baguio, Batangas, Pampanga, and Manila.

From among the 500 or so na nag-audition for both categories, only 40 were finally chosen: 20 para sa Miss Teen Earth at 20 din para naman sa Little Miss Earth.

They were officially named grand finalists sa isang mataong ceremony held sa Manila Ocean Park’s Event Place.

The Grand Pageant will happen May 27 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Delayed telecast of the event will be aired June 8 sa GMA 7’S SNBO.
