Of the 37 Cebu hospitals monitored by the Department of Health, 14 are currently on the critical level, which means they are either already full or almost running out of beds.

CEBU, Philippines — COVID-19 cases in Cebu seemingly are not showing signs of slowing down and the critical care utilization rate in hospitals of different LGUs remains at a high-risk level at 76.7%.

Of the 37 Cebu hospitals monitored by the Department of Health, 14 are currently on the critical level, which means they are either already full or almost running out of beds.

Eight other hospitals are on the high-risk level and three are on a moderate risk.

Although some hospitals are still not at full capacity, they are struggling to accept more patients due to the lack of manpower.

In Cebu City alone, CCUR is currently at 77.1% with nine hospitals already on a critical level.

Hospitals in Cebu City that are already on critical level include the Adventist Hospital and Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, which are both running at full capacity already.

Perpetual Hospital is at 86.5%, St. Vincent Hospital at 96.2%, Ace Hospital at 72%, Cebu North General Hospital at 87%, Cebu City Medical Center at 78.4%, St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital at 82.1% and the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center at 89.6%.

Velez Hospital and the Visayas Community Medical Center are both on a moderate level in its CCUR, but their ICU and ventilators are all in use already.

In Lapu-Lapu City, the CCUR is at 98.5% while in Mandaue, it is at 66.2%.

Cebu Province, on the other hand, has recorded a 76% CCUR for its 13 hospitals. Five of these hospitals are already on a critical level and two others on high-risk level.

Currently, the whole of Cebu has 12,882 active cases. On Tuesday, it added 52 more deaths. — JMD (FREEMAN)
