Alice Leal Guo, a former mayor of a town north of the capital Manila, has been on the run since she was linked to a Chinese-run online gambling centre where hundreds of people were forced to run scams or risk torture.

“The Petitions for Bail filed by accused Alice Leal Guo, Rita Sapnu Yturralde, Rowena Gonzales Evangelista, Thelma Barrogo Laranan, Merlie Joy Manalo Castro, Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon, and Jaimielyn Santos Cruz are denied considering that the evidence presented by the prosecution against them during the bail hearing is strong,” bahagi ng desisyon.
