Climate change, human rights issue - CCC

MANILA, Philippines — Tahasang sinabi ng Climate Change Commission (CCC) na maituturing na human rights violation ang climate change kaya panahon na upang kumilos ang mga local government units (LGUs).

Ayon kay Dr. Michael Raymond Aragon, senior consultant ng CCC at founding chairman ng Clean Air Philippines Movement, Inc. (CAPMI), malaking isyu sa mga Guimarasnon kaya naman naging paksa sa isinagawang 1st Climate Change Summit sa Playa de Paraiso Resort sa San Lorenzo, Guimaras.

Sinabi ni Aragon na kabilang ang Guimaras sa 24 na probinsiya na maituturing na mahirap kaya dapat lamang na pangalagaan laban sa global climate emergency.

Anumang masamang epekto ng global climate emergency sa Guimaras ay maituturing na paglabag sa karapatan na magkaroon ng sapat na pagkain , healthcare, at malinis na kapaligiran.

Dagdag pa ni Aragon na layon ng summit na hikayatin ang mga LGUs na agad na bumuo ng Expanded Local Climate Change Action Plan (EL- CCAP) at ordinansa upang labanan ang climate change.
