MANILA, Philippines — Palaging ipatupad ang “maximum tolerance” pagdating sa mga kritisismo laban sa orga­nisasyon.

Ito ang naging pana­wagan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa bagong hirang ng Phi­lippine National Police (PNP) chief of Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr.

Kahapon ay dumalo si Pangulong Marcos sa change of command ce­remony ng PNP na idinaos sa Camp Crame kung saan nagretiro na sa serbisyo si Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr.

Sa naging talumpati ng Pangulo, inatasan nito si Acorda na tiyakin na ang police force ay magiging bukas sa public scrutiny sa ilalim ng kanyang liderato.

“Serve the people with integrity, with accountability, and genuine justice. Always be open to public scrutiny, and practice restraint and maximum tolerance in the face of harsh criticism,” ayon sa Pangulo.

“As a united police force, always strive to win the trust, respect and admiration of our citizenry, through an efficient, ethical and compassionate brand of police work,” dagdag na wika nito.

Inatasan din niya si Acorda na tiyakin na ma­raramdaman ng publiko ang presensiya ng kapulisan sa kalsada.

Inatasan din ng Pa­ngulo ang mga pulis na protektahan ang vulne­rable sector, kabilang na ang media at civil action groups.

Umaasa naman ang Chief Executive sa liderato ni Acorda at ang magandang halimbawa ang magiging gabay sa mga police force “to its desired path towards rebuilding and strengthening, continuous improvement and capacity-building.”

Bago pa italaga ng Pangulo bilang bagong hepe ng PNP, si Acorda ay isang PNP director for intelligence.
