Unang BP gold sa Masbate thrower

Puerto Princesa, Philippines — Inangkin ni Jewel Courtney Trangia ng Masbate ang unang gold medal ng 16th Batang Pinoy Na­tional Championships matapos dominahin ang women’s under-18 discus throw event kahapon dito sa Ramon V. Mitra Jr. Sports Complex.

Naglista ang 17-anyos na Grade 12 student ng Masbate Sports Academy ng 38.30 meters para ta­lunin sina Hannah Ashlei Regaya (31.54m) ng Davao Del Norte at Trisha Gayle Nalla (31.06m) ng City of Maasin.

Ito ang ikatlong sunod na Batang Pinoy gold ni Trangia matapos noong 2022 sa Vigan at 2023 sa Manila.

“Nakaka-disappoint po kasi 40 meters po ang gusto ko sanang makuha,” wika ng tubong Barangay Bongcanaway, Masbate. “Mahirap po kasi balansehin iyong academics at training.”

Nakatakdang bumiyahe si Trangia ngayong araw patungong Malaysia para lumahok sa Malaysian Open Athletics 2024.

Samantala, hinirang si Arvin Neem Taguinota ng Pasig City bilang unang double-gold winner matapos manaig sa boys’ 12-13 200 LC Meter IM (2:22.02) at sa boys’ 12-13 100 LC Meter freestyle (57.92) sa swimming event.

Sumisid din ng ginto sina Sophia Rose Garra (2:31.82) ng Malabon sa girls’ 12-13 200 LC Meter IM, Kyla Louise Bulaga (2:33.50) ng San Fernando, La Union sa girls’ 14-15 200 LC Meter IM at Liaa Margareth Amoguis (2:33.25) ng Quezon City sa girls’ 16-17 200 LC Meter IM.
