CEBU CITY, Philippines — Sa u­nang pagkakataon sa history ng Palarong Pambansa, dadaan sa scanner ang mga atletang lalahok sa chess at ipagbabawal lahat ng electronic devices sa torneo para maiwasan ang dayaan.

Ito ang sinabi kahapon ni tournament director Reden Cruz, isang International Arbiter, sa The STAR sa kanilang mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng bagong guidelines.

“Everyone playing will be scanned and we will have people guarding comfort rooms,” wika ni Cruz. “Of course, electronic devices and even watches and anything mechanical will not be allowed in the playing area and their ears will also be inspected.”

Sisimulan ngayon ang labanan sa centerpiece athletics kung saan 17 gold medals ang nakataya habang 24 ang paglalabanan sa swimming na parehong lalaruin sa Cebu City Sports Center.

Ngunit ang unang gold na kukunin sa annual multi-sports meet para sa mga grade school athletes ay magmumula sa secondary girls’ 3,000-meter run.
