MANILA, Philippines — Nagulat si Meralco coach Norman Black nang padepensahan ni Barangay Ginebra mentor Tim Cone si resident import Justin Brownlee kay Allen Durham mula sa first hanggang third quarter sa Game Three ng 2019 PBA Governor’s Cup Finals noong Linggo.
Nagtala pa rin si Brownlee ng mga all-around numbers na 24 points, 9 rebounds at 9 assists sa 92-84 paggiba ng Gin Kings kontra sa Bolts at kunin ang 2-1 bentahe sa kanilang best-of-seven championship series.
Sa 102-104 kabiguan nila sa Game Two ay walang naitalang assist si Brownlee.
“I really wanna focus on getting guys going, trying to get guys open looks, and I always try to focus on defense.,” sabi ng 30-anyos na reinforcement.
Nakatuwang din ni Brownlee sina flying forward Japeth Aguilar at point guard Stanley Pringle na tumapos na may 23 at 21 markers, ayon sa pagkakasunod.
“Meralco is keeping us out of rhythm. And, so the ball wasn’t moving like we’d like to see it move. We weren’t creating assists,” wika ni Cone, ang two-time PBA Grand Slam champion mentor.
Sa hinataw na 35 points ng Gin Kings laban sa Bolts sa third period ay humugot si Pringle ng 17 points.
“We got to have more energy. Everybody’s got to get better all around,” wika ni two-time PBA Best import Allen Durham, kumolekta ng 23 points at 13 rebounds.
Nabigo ang Meralco na maduplika ang kanilang 104-102 panalo sa Game Two at determinadong maitabla ang kanilang titular showdown ng Ginebra sa Game Four bukas sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.
