Kahit ‘di pa siguradong kasali sa SEAG naghahanda na ang Phl football team

MANILA, Philippines - Sa kabila ng pagkakabitin pa rin ng kanilang partisipasyon para sa darating na 2017 Southeast Asian Games sa Malaysia ay itutuloy pa rin ng Philippine Under-22 football team ang kanilang training program.

Ito ay para maging handa ang koponan sakaling payagan sila ng Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission SEAG task force na lumahok sa Malaysia SEA Games.

“We’re preparing the team. It is managed by Jeff Cheng and practices are continuous. They even have (training) camps programmed in China and Australia,” sabi kahapon ni Philippine Football Federation president Nonong Araneta.

Wala pang katiyakan ang pagsali ng Pinoy U-22 booters sa Malaysia dahil ang primary qualification na itinakda ng Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission SEAG task force ay ang medal showing sa nakaraang SEA Games. Noong 2015 SEA Games sa Singapore ay nangulelat ang Phl XI sa Group A matapos maipatalo ang apat nilang laro.

“It really depends on the task force. But if they will allow us, we’re willing to look for our own sponsors,” wika ni Araneta.

Nilabanan ng Phl U-22 side ang tropa ng Malaysia sa isang friendly noong Disyembre sa Rizal Memorial at nakapuwersa ng scoreless draw.

“When they played a several months before, the Malaysians won, 4-1, so this shows improvement for our team,” sabi ni Araneta.

Nangako ang PFF chief ng isang competitive squad para sa SEAG na siyang premiere football tournament ng Asean para sa U-22 age bracket. (OLeyba)
