Wala pa ring kupas si Martinez

MANILA, Philippines – Ipinakita ni Filipino Winter Olympian Michael Martinez ang kanyang pamatay na porma para angkinin ang senior men’s crown sa Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy 2015 na idinaos sa Bangkok, Thailand.

Nakakuha si Martinez, ang unang Asian skater na nakapaglaro sa Winter Games sa Sochi, ng 188.53 points patungo sa pagsikwat sa gold medal laban kina Japanese Kenjei Tanaka (182.70) at Hiraoki Sato (145.89).

Nanguna ang 18-anyos na si Martinez sa short program sa pamamagitan ng kanyang Beethoven Egmont Overture performance na nabigyan ng 72.14 points ng mga hurado.

Naglista naman siya ng second-best na 116.39 galing sa kanyang performance sa musikong Romeo and Juliet ni Prokofiev sa free skating para ungusan sina Tanaka (61.64 at 121.06) at Sato (55.38 at 90.51) para maging first overall.

Ang iba pang tinalo ni Martinez ay sina Taiwanese Chih-I Tsao (141.74) at Meng-jung Lee (124.65), Hong Kong bet Kwun Hung Leung (116.63), Taiwanese Jui-shu Chen (115.81), Australian Cameron Hemmert (113.44) at Indian Raj Kumar Tiwari (21.6)

Nauna nang naidepensa ni Martinez ang kanyang titulo sa Triglav Trophy noong Abril sa Slovenia.
