MANILA, Philippines - Lumapit ang Ateneo sa pagkumpleto sa three-peat matapos kunin ang 7-3 panalo laban sa De La Salle sa Game 1 ng UAAP Season 77 baseball championship series kahapon sa Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Humataw si dating MVP Matt Laurel ng two-run single sa fourth inning para ibigay sa Blue Eagles ang 4-3 kalama-ngan laban sa Green Batters.

 Lumayo pa ang Ateneo sa sixth inning matapos kunin ang 6-3 bentahe nang umiskor si Dio Remollo ng two-run single.

Maaaring makamit ng Blue Eagles ang kanilang ikatlong sunod na baseball crown kung mananalo sa Game 2 sa Huwebes sa Rizal ballpark.

“Our three straight losses served as a wake up call for us. We were able to adjust and I think we have a flawless game sa defense,” wika ni Ateneo coach Randy Dizer.        

Nagbida naman para sa La Salle si rookie Boo Barandiaran sa pagsisimula ng laro matapos magpatalsik ng anim na batters, habang may tatlong strike outs si Carlos Muñoz.

Binuksan ng Ateneo ang season mula sa 7-0 record bago natalo ng tatlong sunod sa dulo ng eliminations.
