Kampo ni Mayweather kinumpirma ang laban

MANILA, Philippines - Lalo pang napatotoha­nan ang naunang pahayag ni Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions kaugnay sa banggaan nina Man­ny Pacquiao at Floyd Mayweather, Jr. sa Mayo 2.

Kinumpirma kahapon ng matalik na kaibigan ni Al Haymon, ang chief adviser ni Mayweather, na si Sam Watson na malapit nang maplantsa ang natu­rang mega fight.

“They’re putting it to­gether now,” sabi ni Watson sa panayam ng The Guardian. “They’re going to do a Showtime-HBO (joint pay-per-view) like they did last time with Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson. They’re working on the monies now and everything they’ve got to work on to make it happen.”

Si Mayweather (47-0-0, 26 KOs) ay may na­titira pang dalawang laban sa kanyang six-fight, 30-month contract sa Show­time at CBS na nag­ka­kahalaga ng $250 mil­yon na kanyang nilagdaan noong Pebrero ng 2013.

Nasa bakuran naman ng HBO si Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs).

“I can’t wait. It’s going to be huge,” dagdag pa nito.

Kamakalawa ay iniha­yag ni Arum na pumayag na ang Filipino world eight-division champion na si Pacquiao sa mga de­talye sa kanilang fight con­tract ni Mayweather.

Hindi umalma si Pacquiao sa 40/60 purse split kung saan makakatanggap si Mayweather ng $120 milyon kumpara sa kanyang makukuhang $80 mil­yon.

Ang hinihintay na lamang nila ay ang sagot ng world five-division titlist na si Mayweather.

Inaasahang pipirmahan ni Pacquiao ang fight contract bukas sa United States kung saan niya ipo-promote ang dokumentar­yong ‘Manny’ sa New York at Los Angeles.

Nagtungo si Pacquiao sa US kamakalawa.

Umaasa si chief trainer Freddie Roach na tuluyan nang mapaplantsa ang Pacquiao-Mayweather mega showdown.

“I think it’s close, closer than ever. Manny kind of made fun of Mayweather and Mayweather came out with a comment. We got a response back from it. I thought it was good. The fight needs to happen. I hope it pushes through,” ani Roach.
