Popovich ikinaasar ang komento ni Sarver

SAN ANTONIO – Niresbakan ni San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich si Phoenix Suns owner Ro­bert Sarver dahil sa mga komento nito.

Nagsalita si Sarver sa public address microphone no­ong Huwebes sa Phoenix at humingi ng paumanhin sa mga fans dahil naglaro ang Spurs nang wala si Po­povich at ilang bigating players.

“This is not the game you paid your hard-earned mo­ney to watch,” sabi ni Sarver sa mga fans. “I apologize for it. And I want you to send me your tickets if you came tonight with a return envelope and I’ve got a gift for you on behalf of the Suns for showing up to­night. Thank you.”

Hinarap ng Spurs ang Suns nang wala ang mga may injury na sina Kawhi Leonard (eye infection), Tia­go Splitter (calf) at Patty Mills (rotator cuff), habang nanatili naman sina Tim Duncan at Manu Gino­bi­li sa San Antonio para magpahinga.

Ipinaubaya ni Popovich kay first-year assistant Ettore Messina ang head coaching duties.

Tinalo ng Phoenix ang San Antonio, 121-90, para sa unang preseason game ng Spurs sa United States ma­­tapos ang two-week trip sa Europe.

“The only thing that surprises me is that he didn’t say it in a chicken suit. I’ll just leave it at that,” sagot ni Po­povich bago ang preseason home opener nila kontra sa Miami Heat.
