MANILA, Philippines - Kinumpleto ni national champion Nathaniel “Tac” Padilla ang pagwalis sa pistol events matapos kunin ang dala-wang gold medals sa 25-meter standard pistol competition sa National Open shooting championships sa PSC-Marine range sa Fort Bonifacio noong Linggo.
Nagpaputok ang 50-anyos na si Padilla, ang No. 1 pistol shooter ng bansa sapul noong 1978, ng 547 points para sikwatin ang individual gold at nakihati sa team gold kasama sina Robert Donalvo at Enrique Gazmin mula sa pinagsama nilang 1,566 points.
Tinalo ni Padilla sina Donalvo (547) at Clarence Pukya (521) sa individual competition.
Ang puntos naman nina Padilla at Donaldo kasama ang 482 ni Gazmin ay lubhang mas mataas kumpara sa kanilang mga kalaban.
Inungusan nina Padilla, Donalvo at Gazmin, apo ni Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, sina Carolino Gonzales, Ronald Robles at Antonio Medina (1,412) at ang grupo nina Pukya, Jovito Teneza at Chito Clemente (1,298).
“I was happy that I achieved my goals of winning again the three pistol events. I had promised my dad (former national pistol titlist and Olympian Mariano “Tom” Ong) that I’d repeat my usual triumph in the said pistol matches,” sabi ni Padilla, ang general manager ng kanilang Spring Cooking Oil.
Noong nakaraang linggo ay dinomina rin ni Padilla ang center fire at rapid fire event.
