Laguna host ng 2014 Palarong Pambansa
MANILA, Philippines - Iginawad sa Laguna ang pagho-host ng 2014 Palarong Pambansa matapos kumbinsihin ang executive committee sa kanilang kakayahang magtanghal ng annual multisports competition para sa mga student athletes.
“Laguna will host next year’s Palarong Pambansa,†sabi ni Department of Education Assistant Secretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs Tonisito Umali kahapon.
Ibinigay ang hosting sa probinsiya sa meeting ng mga opisyal nitong Huwebes mula sa DepEd at Philippine Sports Commission, sa pamumuno ni Education Secretary Armin Luistro at Umali kasama si PSC commissioner Jolly Gomez.
Naroroon din si Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito kasama si Laguna Provincial Sports head Albert Abarquez at representatives Mayor Del de Guzman ng Marikina na nag-bid din sa hosting ng Palaro.
Ayon kay Gomez, ang Marikina ay host din ng 6th ASEAN Schools Games sa December ng 2014.
Nakuha ng Laguna ang hosting dahil sa kanilang modern sports facilities tulad ng Laguna Recreational, Education, Cultural and Sports Stadium bukod pa sa 70-meter world class archery range, track oval, football field at dorm.
