Sports Festival for Street Children

MANILA, Philippines - Sa pakikipagtulungan sa Child Hope Asia Philippines at sa High Five Hope Foundation, pinangunahan ni PSC Commissioner-in-charge of Sectoral Sports Akiko Thomson-Guevara ang 6th Annual Sports Festival for Street Children nitong Hunyo 9–13 sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium at sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Ang mga koponang lumahok sa basketball, volleyball, futkal (football kalye) at badminton ay ang Binondo/Delpan/Divisoria, Blumentritt, Emita/Malate, Monumento/Balintawak/Mayon, Luneta/Pie at Baclaran/Buendia/Pasay.

Ang mga nagwagi sa kani-kanilang kompetisyon ay ang Futkal - Binondo/Divisoria, gold; Monumento/Mayon/Balintawak, silver; Luneta/Pier, bronze.  Sa basketball midgets - Binondo/Divisoria, gold; Blumentrit, silver at Lawton/Morayta, bronze.  Sa basketball juniors - Binondo/Divisoria, gold; Emita/Malate, silver at Luneta/Pier, bronze.

“It is a great privilege to organize and gather these children in a sports competition aimed to harness their education on values formation,” sabi ni Guevara.

Ang event ay pinamunuan nina Project Director Atty. Jay Alano, Child Hope Asia President at Executive Director Teresita Silva, Hope for Children United Kingdom representative Kevin Connolly at High Five Hope Foundation Patricia Hizon na sinuportahan ng Hope for Children, Amy Foundation, Museo Pambata, Maynilad, Citiglobe volunteers, Accenture, Toy Kingdom, Jollibee, Malayan Insurance, Convergys, Texicon at Coca Cola.
