MANILA, Philippines - Si Mexican light flyweight titlist Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzales ang posibleng labanan ni unified world flyweight champion Brian ‘The Hawaiian Punch’ Viloria ngayong 2013.
Sinabi ni Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions na nakausap na niya ang kampo ng 32-anyos na si Viloria at nagparamdam na rin sa grupo ng 25-anyos na si Gonzales.
“I’ve had conversations with Viloria representatives to make that fight, and I’ve also expressed interest to Fernando (Beltran) who has a contract with Chocolatito’s handlers so we can carry out this fight,” ani Arum.
Kung maitatakda ang laban kay Viloria, ang flyweight champion ng World Boxing Organization at World Boxing Association, aakyat ng weight division si Gonzales.
Ibinabandera ni Viloria ang kanyang (32-3-0 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 19 knockouts, habang dala ni Gonzales, ang WBA light flyweight ruler, ang kanyang 34-0-0, 28 KOs) slate.
Matagumpay na naidepensa ni Viloria ang kanyang WBO title kontra kay Mexican Omar Niño Romero (31-5-2, 13 KOs) via ninth-round TKO win noong Mayo 13, 2012.
Inagaw ni Viloria kay Mexican Hernan ‘Tyson’ Marquez (34-3-0, 25 KOs) ang bitbit nitong WBA belt mula sa isang tenth-round TKO win noong Nobyembre 17, 2012 sa LA Sports Arena.
