MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police is eyeing the Philippine Arena, Mall of Asia (MOA) and two other areas as viewing sites for the inauguration of president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 30, a PNP official said yesterday.

PNP director for operations Maj. Gen. Valeriano de Leon said they are coordinating with the Marcos camp on their plan to use the Philippine Arena in Bulacan as one of the viewing areas.

De Leon said they are also looking at the MOA in Pasay City, Philippine Sports Center in Pasig and the North Luzon Express Terminal in Bulacan as possible viewing sites.

The PNP is targeting to deploy LED television sets in these areas during the inauguration of Marcos.

“If these places would be used as viewing sites, then we could reduce the number of attendees at the National Museum in Manila, which can only accommodate a limited number of people,” De Leon said.

Marcos won the presidential race in May after receiving about 31 million votes.

Police said they are also coordinating with the owners of large LED televisions displayed along EDSA as well as other parts of the country for the live streaming of the Marcos inaugural.

“We are talking to the management of these large LED televisions to use their platforms for the live streaming of the June 30 inauguration so that more people will be able to witness this historic event,” De Leon said.
