Angeline Quinto no less, told us the reason kung bakit she backed out from the movie English Only, Please, na sinalo nga ni Jennylyn Mercado kung saan nagwagi ito ng best actress trophy in the last Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Said Angeline: ‘‘Ewan ho, pero natakot ako at the last minute, lalo’t nalaman kong pang-MMFF ang pelikula.’’

Asked kung hindi ba siya nanghihinayang. ‘‘Siguro nga, if it’s not meant to be, it will not happen.

‘‘I still believe, my time will come’’

Angeline said though, wala rin siyang idea kung bakit umayaw din si Sam Milby,  na napunta nga kay  Derek Ramsay and won for Derek a best actor trophy.

‘‘Siguro, may sariling dahilan din si Sam,” Angeline quipped.

We got the chance to talk with Angeline at the premiere of Edsa Woolworth at the Megamall last Tuesday. She was with constant date, fellow singer Erik Santos.

The film topbilled by Pokwang, is now showing in the theaters nationwide.

Directed by John-D Lazatin and produced by The Filipino Channel (TFC), Edsa Woolworth, also include in the cast two American actors, Lee O’Brian at Steven Spohn.

Kris, Boots, at Jamie kinaiinggitan, makakalapit kay Pope Francis

Suwerte naman nina Kris Aquino at Boots Anson-Roa (now Rodrigo), since makaka-face to face nila si Pope Francis who is arriving in the country today (‘til the 19th), para madalaw specifically ang mga naging biktima ng typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban, Leyte.

Twice pa nga raw makakadaupang-palad ni Kris ang kanyang Highness, since tiyak na she will be with her brother, P-Noy, when Pope Francis visits Malacañang.

As we all know, besides his role as Papal Nuncio, Pope Francis is also head of state of the Vatican City. This will be on Friday, January 16.

Kris hopes to be able to attend the mass which Pope Francis will solemnize at the Quirino Grandstand sa Luneta, Sunday, January 18, naman, since P-Noy, together with several-important government official are themselves going there.

In the case of Boots, her husband, Atty. King Rodrigo, in his mom’s behalf, will read the welcome prayer for Pope Francis when he meets with several Filipino families sa MOA (Mall of Asia Area) on January 16.

Samantala, si Jamie Rivera, na kakanta ng kanyang sariling  composition of the theme song, We Are All God’s Children of Pope Francis’ visit has no idea kung saan siya ipu-puwesto ng mga namamahala ng napakahalagang event na ito na gaganapin sa MOA.

Nakatakda rin niyang awitin ang We Are All God’s Children, when the Pope visits naman UST (University of Sto. Tomas) for a gathering of the youth, who might perform the song with Jamie.

‘‘But I really don’t mind,’’ ani Jamie. ‘‘Kahit ‘di ako makalapit ng close na close sa Papa.

‘‘Honor enough na sa akin ang maging part ng kanyang rare visit na ito sa ating bayan,’’ dugtong pa ni  Jamie.

During the twin event, Jamie was requested daw by the Archbishop Palace in the Philippines to wear a barong sa MOA event and at UST a Filipiniana dress.

Both attires were prepared for Jamie by top Filipino designer, Rene Salud.
