TV director-producer Edgar Mortiz was no longer as young as the cast of the kiddie gag show Goin’ Bulilit, which he created and conceptualized eight years ago, because teenager na siya when he teamed up with Vilma Santos many years ago. In their time, they were known as the Vi and Bot love team.
And most of their team ups then, whether sa pelikula o sa recording, were big hits especially with their following.
But with Goin’ Bulilit, obvious na iba ang direksiyon, kumbaga, na gustong sundin ni Direk Edgar when he thought of it. He obviously wanted his stars to start young then develop them into big stars once they became teenagers, like what happened now to former Goin’ Bulilit mainstays Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes.
Both Kathryn at Julia were cute tsikiting then when their acting skills, singing, and dancing ability were developed. More than this, na-overcome na nila kung anumang complex meron sila, pahayag pa sa amin ng creative manager ng Goin’ Bulilit na si Ricky Herrera.
To give way to other kids na nangangarap ding maging Goin’ Bulilit talents, they limit the stay of their child stars to age 13.
Kaya ’yung talagang puwedeng maging recording star sa kanila are given the chance to join the recording company.
Two other shows pa rin which Direk Edgar created and conceptualized, and, no doubt, are making their mark sa Kapamilya are the more mature gag shows na Banana Split Extra Scoop (every Saturday) and Banana Nite (weekdays, except Fridays). And, of course, Luv U.
The “older gag†show is on its fifth year na nga pala. Directing Goin’ Bulilit is Frasco Mortiz.
But, of course, Goin’ Bulilit will always be close to Direk Edgar’s heart. Those who are closely working with him like Cynthia Jordan, who is the executive producer of all three shows, know.
Since this year, several mainstays have already graduated.
The graduates include Kobi Vidanes, Joseph Andre Garcia, Aaron Junates, Alex Ilacad, and Angel Sy.
Two of these graduates, Kobi and Alex, together with former Goin’ Bulilit mainstays Nash Aguas, Sharlene San Pedro, Jairus Aquino, and Mike dela Cruz, are joining, starting next Sunday, too, the Luv U cast of Miles Ocampo, Marco Gumabao, and Kiray Celis.
Luv U, now on its second year, is a hit afternoon series aired after the noontime musical show ASAP Live.
The Bulilit graduates will be taken in as new enrollees sa Luv U. Also entering the fun-filled university as new teacher is Eda Nolan. Smokey MaÂnaloto remains the university principal.
Another new addition is Bentong.
