MANILA, Philippines — The temperature in Baguio City further dropped to 14.6 degrees Celsius as the northeast monsoon or amihan continues in the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported.

PAGASA said the northeasterly wind flow is expected to be more dominant in most of the country, bringing cold and dry air until February. 

A week ago, the temperature in the country’s summer capital reached 15.6 degrees.

Yesterday’s observation was followed by Tanay in Rizal, which registered 19.0 degrees Celsius, and Casiguran town in Aurora with 19.2 degrees.

Also in the PAGASA Top 10 areas with the lowest temperatures are Itbayat, Batanes (19.5 degrees); Malaybalay, Bukidnon (19.8 degrees); Abucay, Bataan (20.2 degrees); Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (20.2 degrees);  Calayan, Cagayan (20.7 degrees); Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (20.8 degrees) and Baler, Aurora (21 degrees).

In Metro Manila, the temperatures ranged between 25 and 31 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA declared the onset of northeast monsoon on Nov. 19, adding that the public could expect cooler temperatures and dry air across the country, with periodic surges expected in the coming months.
