Cebu City, Mandaue booters rule CCSC Friendship Games

CEBU, Philippines - Team Cebu City and Mandaue stamped their respective classes in the 1st Cebu City Sports Center Football Friendship Games dubbed as "Champion’s League" over the weekend at the CCSC pitch.

The Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC)-powered Cebu City Niños hammered Warshocz, 6-1, in their final match to reign supreme in the elementary division.

DBTC punched in four goals in the first half behind the efforts of Gleere Vincent Espinosa, Agot and Christian Vince Pacana plus an own goal.

Warshocz, manned by players from Camp Lapu-Lapu ES, hit only one goal in the first 45 minutes of play and that was all they could muster. The Bosconians eventually finished off Warshocz with two more gols in the final period courtesy of Pierre Benedict Obispo and Kyle Adrian Ronquillo.

In the secondary level, the Abellana National School (ANS)-Pomeroy Futbulitos and Mandaue City figured in exciting championship battle.

Mandaue City, composed of players from the Mandaue Technical Institute and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, went on to beat ANS, 4-3, via penalty shootout.

After the regulation period ended in a 1-all draw, the shootout went in favor of the Mandaue side thanks to the smart plays of Kiko Villamor, AJ Pelicano, Joseph Felicilda and Clint Ligan. (FREEMAN)
