MANILA, Philippines — Kinumpirma ni Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Marcial na nagtamo ito ng injury ilang linggo bago magsimula ang 2024 Paris Olympics.

Sa kanyang post sa social media, inilahad nito ang kanyang pinagdaanan bago magtungo sa Paris.

Hindi ibinigay ni Marcial ang eksaktong detalye ngu­nit inamin nito na na-injure ito sa kasagsagan ng kanyang paghahanda para sa Paris Games.

Malaki ang na­ging epek­to nito sa Pinoy cham­pion partikular na sa laban nito kay Turabek Khabibullaev ng Uzbekistan kung saan lumasap ito ng una­nimous decision loss sa men’s 80kg division.

Tuluyang namaalam sa kontensiyon si Marcial na bigong mapantayan ang kanyang bronze-finish sa Tokyo Games.

“Not many people know but behind the scenes, I sustained an injury two weeks leading up to this match that prevented me to move and do my usual training, which also affected my mental strength and overall performance,” ani Marcial.

Sa kabila ng kabiguan, walang pagsisisi si Marcial.

“But no regrets still, I know God has a bigger purpose for this loss. I may not understand it now but I need to trust that it was God’s protection to keep me safe from any further potential injury,” dagdag ni Marcial.

Isa si Marcial sa mga inaasahang mag-uuwi ng medalya para sa Team Philippines.

Subalit nagulantang ang lahat nang umani ito ng kabiguan sa kanyang unang pagsalang sa Paris Games.
