“We have as of now qualified 13 athletes for Paris,” sabi kahapon ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino sa First POC Journey to Olympic Briefing sa Milky Way Restaurant sa Makati City.

Ang mga mayroon nang Olympic ticket ay sina pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena, boxers Eumir Felix Marcial, Nesthy Petecio at Aira Villegas, weightlifters Vanessa Sarno, Erleen Ann Ando at John Febuar Ceniza at gymnasts Carlos Yulo at Aleah Finnegan.

Inaasahan ring makakakuha ng Olympic slot si weightlifter Rosegie Ramos sa women’s 49 kgs class bagama’t No. 11 siya sa world rankings matapos ang Phuket qualifiers kamakailan.

“A Belgian (Niña Sterckx) ranks No. 7 in Rosegie’s class, but she lacks the mandatory six qualifiers for Paris, and according to weightlifting’s international federation, Rosegie’s technically qualified,” ani Tolentino na nakasama sa briefing sina Chef de Mission to Paris Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla at secretary-general Atty. Wharton Chan.

Sina Fil-Canadian swimmer Kyla Sanchez at Jarrod Hatch ay mayroon nang tiket base sa universality rule.
