TNT import muling ikinumpara kay Kobe
MANILA, Philippines — Nagbalik si TNT Tropang Giga import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson sa Pilipinas para katawanin ang Jordan sa 2023 FIBA World Cup.
Tumapos si Hollis-Jefferson na may 24 points, 9 rebounds at 3 assists sa 71-92 kabiguan ng Jordan sa Greece noong Sabado ng gabi sa MOA Arena sa Pasay City.
Kagaya ng kanyang paggiya sa Tropang Giga sa korona ng nakaraang PBA Governors’ Cup ay muling ikinumpara ang 6-foot-5 na si Hollis-Jefferson sa namayapang si NBA legend Kobe Bryant.
“It’s an honor for people to say that (about me) but at the end of the day, Kobe is Kobe. I’m Rondae. I definitely do watch a lot of his films — similar size and athletic ability,” ani Hollis-Jefferson.
Ibinahagi ng 2015 NBA Draft No. 23 overall pick ng Portland Trail Blazers ang isang beses niyang pagsagupa kay Bryant.
“It was towards the end (of Kobe’s career) but I played against him one time. I guarded him once and it was a great memory for me. He passed the ball so I would say he didn’t score on me,” kuwento ni Hollis-Jefferson. “It was definitely an honor to even share the court with him.”
Sa kanyang bawat laro ay taglay ng 28-anyos na PBA Best Import ang ‘Mamba Mentality’ na ipinakilala ni Bryant.
“At the end of the day, I’m a competitor. Whatever I need to do, whatever the coach needs me to do, that’s what I’m willing to do,” sabi ni Hollis-Jefferson.
