'Finally!': Pinoy na si Kai Sotto nakapaglaro na rin sa NBA Summer League

MANILA, Philippines — Matapos tatlong beses mabangko, nakapag-debut na rin ang Filipino basketball player na si Kai Sotto sa NBA 2K24 Summer League ngayong Biyernes (oras sa Maynila) para sa Orlando Magic kontra Portland Trail Blazers.

Nakapagpakalawa ng anim na puntos, apat na rebound, tatlong block at isang assist ang 7-foot-3-inches na sentro sa loob ng 13 minuto at 23 segundong paglalaro.

Sa kabila nito, natalo ng Portland ang kanilang koponan para magtapos ang laro sa puntos na 88-71.

"First of all, I'm very happy to be here. It's a blessing each and every day to be out here and experience all of this," banggit niya patungkol sa suportang natatanggap sa mga kapwa Pinoy.

"I'm just happy to be supported by a lot of people. I always got something to look forward to, to push myself and hopefully make them proud."

Nakuha pang dumakdak ni Kai noong ika-4 na quarter na siyang nagpa-wow sa mga banyagang manonood.

 

 

 

Mayo 2020 lang nang ianunsyo ni Sotto, dating manlalaro para sa Ateneo Blue Eaglets at anak ng dating PBA player na si Ervin Sotto, na hindi na muna siya magkokolehiyo para matutukan ang pagpasok sa NBA G League.

"He looked really good — if he would even go harder, his game will be better — played unselfish [and] looked to play as a teammate," wika ng agent ni Sotto na si Tony Ronzone sa Philstar.com matapos ang laro.
