Pinay spikers tumulak na pa-Japan

MANILA,Philippines — Lumipad na ang Pinay spikers papuntang Tokyo, Japan kahapon para paghandaan ang 2019 Southeast Asian Games na idaraos sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre 11.

Sasailalim sa 12 araw na training camp ang pambansang koponan kasama ang mahuhusay na Japanese coaches.

Bukod sa puspusang training, sasabak din ang national team sa ilang tuneup games laban sa matitikas na Japanese volleyball clubs at university teams.

Binanderahan nina Filipino-American Kalei Mau, national team captain Aby Maraño at reigning Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Confe­rence Alyssa Valdez ang delegasyon.

Kasama rin sina two-time Asean Grand Prix Best Blocker Majoy Baron, Ces Molina, Mika Reyes, Jia Morado, Rhea Dimaculangan, Dawn Macandili, Mylene Paat, Maddie Madayag at Kath Arado, at sina coaches Shaq Delos Santos at Brian Esquivel.

Pakay ng Pinay spi­kers na makabalik sa podium matapos mabigong makakuha ng medalya sa mga nakalipas na edisyon.

Huling nakakuha ng medalya ang Pilipinas sa women’s volleyball noong 2005 edisyon na ginanap sa Bacolod City kung saan naka-tanso ang koponan na binanderahan nina Mary Jean Balse, Michelle Carolino, Tina Salak at Cherry Rose Macatangay.
