1 pilak, 1 tanso kinolekta ng dalawang Pinoy tankers sa Asean School Games

SEMARANG, Indonesia -- Sumisid ng isang pilak at isang tansong medalya ang Philippine swimming team sa 11th Asean School Games na ginaganap sa Jatidiri Sports Complex dito.

Nasungkit ni Thanya Angelyn Dela Cruz ang unang medalya ng koponan matapos pumangalawa sa girls’ 50m breaststroke sa pamamagitan ng 33.82 segundo.

Kapos lamang siya ng .01 segundo laban kay gold me­dal winner Adelia Adelia ng Indonesia na may 33.81.

Nagdagdag naman ng tansong medalya si Phillip Joaquin Santos na nagsumite ng dalawang minuto at 9.30 segundo sa boys’ 200m backstroke event.

Nanguna si Farrel Armandio Tang ng Indonesia na may 2:04.08, habang pumangalawa si Khiew Hoe Yean ng Malaysia na naglagak ng 2:08.01.

Nagtapos naman sa ikasiyam na puwesto si Swimming Pinas tanker Jordan Ken Lobos sa boys’ 50m breaststroke (32.72) gayundin si Miguel Barreto sa boys’ 100m freestyle (55.42).

Magtatangka namang humirit ng medalya si Philippine junior record holder Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh ng Brent International School-Laguna sa kanyang mga pa­­boritong events gayundin sina Mervien Jules Mirandilla at John Neil Paderes.

“The field is really tough with the presence of some of the region’s best junior tankers. But we’re not backing down. Our swimmers are extra motivated to win our me­­­dals despite competing against older rivals,” wika ni Swimming Pinas team manager Joan Mojdeh.
