Pinoy jins sisipa sa Asian Taekwondo C’ships

MANILA, Philippines — Nakatakdang sumabak ang 24 Filipino jins sa Asian Taekwondo Championships para sa kyorugi (free sparring) at poomsae sa Mayo 24-28 sa Ho Chih Minh City, Vietnam.

Anim na male at anim na female fighters ang magsusuot ng uniporme ng  SMART/MVP Sports Foundation national team sa free sparring event  habang 12 male at fe­male performers ang babandera sa PLDT Home Ultera/MVPSF sa poomsae competition.

Ang mga kalahok sa kyorugi ay sina Carlo Dominic Dionisio (-54kg), Jenar Torillos (-58kg), Francis Aaron Agojo (-63kg), Arven Alcantara (-68kg), Samuel Thomas Harper Morrison (-80kg) at Kristopher Robert Uy (-87kg) sa men's division.

Matutunghayan naman sina Veronica Garces (-46kg), Baby Jessica Cannabal (-49kg), Rhezie Aragon (-53kg), Pauline Louie Lopez (-57kg), Darleen Mae Arpon (-62kg) at Kirstie Elaine Alora (+73kg) sa women's class.

Target naman nina Dustin Jacob Mella, Raphael Enrico Mella, Patrick King Perez, Jeordan Dominguez, Mark Lorenz Balcita at June Ninobla ang ginto sa men's poomsae.

Sina Jocel Lyn Ninobla, Rinna Babanto, Juvenile Faye Crisostomo, Claire Therese Gascon, Janna Dominique Oliva at Alileah Dulce Amor Perez ang sasandalan ng bansa sa women's category.

Ang mga team officials ay sina Tem Igor Mella, head; Dindo Simpson, John Paul Lizardo, Kyorugi coaches; Rani Ann Ortega, Edrick Jhaney Galing, Poomsae coaches; Stephen Fernandez, Delegate at Roland Campos, ang international referee.

Makakatapat ng mga Pinoy jins ang 35 bansa sa pangunguna ng Korea, Iran, Chinese Taipei, Thailand at Indonesia. 

Ang torneo ay gagamitin ng koponan bilang pagha­handa sa 18th Asian Games sa Palembang, Jakarta.
