FIBA OQT hosting malaking oportunidad para sa Pinas -- Villar

MANILA, Philippines – Sa pagpili ng International Basketball Federation (FIBA) sa Pilipinas bilang isa sa tatlong host ng Olympic qualifying tournaments, nanawagan si Las Piñas Representative Mark Villar para sa solidong suporta sa mga atleta

“It is high time that we review policies. Sports should be represented in the Cabinet,” sabi ni Villar.

“There is an immense opportunity by which we could use sports to further development, democracy and diver­sity. A number of nation states have used grass-roots sports-based approaches to forward key reform in educa­tion, employment, health environment, gender equality and safety of children and youth. I could not see a reason why the Philippines should not follow this precedent,” dagdag pa nito.

Hangad ni Villar, ang chairman ng committee on Trade and Industry, na magkaroon ng sistema kung saan mag­tutulungan ang private companies at gobyerno para palakasin ang sports programs sa national at local levels.
