Dalisay huling Pinoy na nalalabi sa qualifying round ng ATP Challenger Philippine Open

MANILA, Philippines – Tanging si Filipino-Spanish Diego Garcia Dalisay na lamang ang natitirang Pinoy netter sa qualifying round ng ATP Challenger Philippine Open na ginaganap sa Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Pinatumba ni Dalisay ang kababayang si Fritz Verdad sa iskor na 6-3, 6-2 upang umusad sa susunod na yugto ng torneong may nakalaang kabuuang $75,000 premyo.

Sunod na makakasagupa ng 16-anyos na si Dalisay si Croatian Nikola Mektic na nagtala ng 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 panalo laban kay Italian Stefano Napolitano.

Ang 27-anyos na si Mektic ay kasalukuyang ika-347 sa ATP world ranking.

“I just to try to enjoy the experience and play my game,” pahayag ni Dalisay na nagkampeon sa boys’ 18-under ng Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open noong nakaraang taon.

Bigo naman sa kani-kanilang mga laban sina dating PCA Open champion Patrick John Tierro at Leander Lazaro.

Lumasap ng 4-6, 7-5, 3-6 kabiguan si Tierro laban kay Yi Chu Huan ng Chinese Taipei habang yumuko si Lazaro kay South African Ruan Roelofse sa iskor na1-6, 2-6.

Wagi naman si Indian Sundar Prashanth kay Russian Alexander Vasilenko, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1) gayundin si Indian Sanam Singh kay Benjamin Balleret ng Monaco, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 at Gerard Granollers ng Spain kay Austrian Maximillian Neuchrist, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

Nauna nang nakasiguro ng tiket sa main draw sina Fil-Am Ruben Gonzales, Jeson Patrombon, Alberto Lim Jr. at Francis Casey Alcantara na nabiyayaan ng kani-kanilang wild cards.
