MANILA, Philippines – Kagaya ng inaasahan, umabante sa quarterfinals sina defending champion Marian Jade Capadocia at second seed Clarice Patrimonio sa women’s singles ng 33rd Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open na inihahandog ng Cebuana Lhuillier at Metro Global Holdings kahapon sa PCA indoor courts sa Paco, Manila.

Kinuha ng three-time champion na si Capadocia ang 6-2, 6-2 panalo laban kay Rafaella Villanueva at inilista ni Patrimonio ang 6-2, 6-2 tagumpay kontra kay Jella Capadocia.

“Nao-overcome ko na ‘yung gigil ko minsan sa court. May tendency kasi na masyadong napapa­lakas yung palo ko dahil gigil,” sabi ng 21-anyos na si Patrimonio.

Pumasok rin sa quarterfinals si Christine Patrimonio matapos itakas ang 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2) panalo kay Filipino-American wildcard Catherine Isip sa torneong itinataguyod ng Dunlop, Fujidenzo/Whirlpool, Babolat, Hon. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, Head, Accel, Malate Bayview Mansion, Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc., Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Company Inc. at Seno Hardware.

Makakaharap ng 19-anyos na si Capadocia si Christine at lalabanan ni Clarice si fifth pick Hannah Espinosa, kumuha ng 4-6, 6-1, 2-0 (ret.) panalo laban kay Maria Angela Sunga.

Sa men’s division, kumuha ng tiket sa quarterfinals sina top seed Patrick John Tierro at eight-time champion Johnny Arcilla.

Sinibak ng 29-anyos na si Tierro si Bernardine Siso, 6-4, 6-2, habang umiskor ng walkover win ang 34-anyos na si Arcilla kay Jed Olivarez.
