Rivera pakay ang gold sa bowling

INCHEON, South Korea -- Sasabak sa aksyon sina veteran bowlers Biboy Rivera at Liza del Rosario sa 17th Asian Games taglay ang determinasyong makuha ang gintong medalya.

Sinabi ng 40-anyos na si Rivera, sumabak sa World Championship noong 2006 sa Busan, na maraming maaaring mangyari kaya hindi siya gaanong nagkukumpiyansa.

“Before coming here, we did all we could to be in top shape. But we are up against the best in the world. We are ready but in this sport, you never know. One slight mistake could cost you big,” ani Rivera na lalahok sa darating na  2014 World Cup sa Poland sa Nobyembre kasama si Del Rosario.

Ito ang pang-limang sunod na pagkakataon na sasabak si Rivera sa Asian Games at ang pi­na­kaeksperyensado sa men’s bowling team ka­sama sina Frederick Ong, Bonshir La­yoso at sina Asian Games rookies Elirico Hernandez, Jo Mar Jumapao at Kenneth Chua.

Noong 2010 sa Guangzhou Asiad sa China ay nag-uwi si Rivera ng gold medal sa singles competition bukod pa sa mga panalo nina boxer Rey Saludar ar cue artist Dennis Orcollo.

Sina Rivera, Del Rosario, Liza Clutario, Krizziah Tabora, Marian Posadas at rookies Ana Marie Kiac at Marie Alexis Sy ay ginagabayan nina local coaches Johnson Cheng at Jojo Ca­nare.

Katuwang nila si Japanese Madoka Amano.
