MANILA, Philippines - Nagposte sina Kevin Arquero, Aglipay Oberio, Ricardo Batcho at Virgen Gil Ruaya ng magkakatulad na 5.5 points matapos ang six rounds sa kanilang inaasa­hang pagtatagpo sa finals ng 22nd Shell National Youth Active  Chess Championships’ Northern Luzon leg sa University of Saint Louis sa Tuguegarao City.

Tinalo ng top-seeded na si Arquero sina Wilmar Catulin, Angelo Bauzali at Marvin Phua at nakipag-draw kay Denzel Amar sa fourth bago gibain sina Mark Barrera at Mark Asejo para makatabla sina No. 2 Oberio, third ranked Batcho at fourth-seeded Ruaya sa juniors division papasok sa huling tatlong rounds ng Swiss system tournament na itinataguyod ng Pilipinas Shell.

Pinayuko ni Oberio sina Jean Cauilan, Mark Binayug, Dexter Sagalon, Virgenie Ruaya at Rowelyn Acedo at nakipag-draw kay Batcho, tinalo sina Jovita Cauilan, Anthony Danao, Warren Mallen, Jenerwin Cadaba at Brylle Vinluan.

Giniba naman ni Ruaya sina Joven Cayasa, Dan Azul, Mark Adviento at Michaela Concio, habang nakihati ng puntos kay Mark Asejo sa fifth round kasunod ang pagdomina kay Christian Geron sa event na nagsisilbing final leg ng isang six-stage na-­ tio­n­­­wide elims na magtatapos sa grand finals.
