Batang Gilas sa 15th place

DUBAI - Tinapos ng Philippines ang kanilang kampanya sa FIBA U17 World Championship sa pamamagitan ng 64-point victory laban sa United Arab Emirates, 115-51 sa pagtatapos ng torneo dito sa Al Shabab Arena.

Nakamit ng Batang Gilas ang ika-15 puwesto sa 16-nation tournament na muling pinagharian ng United States sa ikatlong sunod na pagkakataon.

“This is just the first try for the Philippines. This is just a baby step, a temporary setback for us,” sabi ni Batang Gilas head coach Jamike Jarin. “Being here is already an achievement. We made history. Iran is not here, South Korea is not here, but the Philippines is here. We’re so proud of what we have achieved and we surely gave our best.”

Ayon pa kay Jarin, ipagpapatuloy niya ang kanyang nasimulan.

“Our goal is to compete in the world level every year,” ani Jarin. “We already broke the barrier so we should do our best to stay here. We should always represent Asia in world-class youth tournaments.”

Sinimulan ng Batang Gilas, nakamit ang tiket sa world stage matapos sumegunda sa FIBA Asia U16 Championship, ang torneo sa average na 26.1 points loss sa United States, Greece, France at Argentina.

Nabigo muna ang koponan sa Egypt sa labanan sa labanan para sa 13-16th posisyon sa torneo.
