Youth Olympic Games Ibinigay lahat ni Yu pero hindi ito sapat

NANJING – Ibinigay ni swimmer Roxanne Yu ang lahat ngunit hindi ito sapat para makarating sa finals ng 100-meter backstroke sa second Youth OIympic Games dito.

Nagtala ang Filipina student sa Phuket  ng bagong personal best na 1-minuto at 5.16 segundo sa Nanjing Olympic Center para malagay sa 26th place sa 33 swimmers na naglaban.

Ngunit ayon sa incoming high school senior sa British International School sa Phuket, masaya siya at nalampasan niya ang kanyang dating personal best na 1:05.20.

“I’m okay. It was my best time in the event and I’m happy with that,” sabi ni Yu habang nanananghalian sa Athletes Village.

May isa pa siyang event—ang 200-meter backstroke na nakatakda sa Martes.

“I will be back to try to give my best,” sabi ng magandang 16-anyos na swimmer.

Sa Xuanwu Lake triathlon venue, hindi nakasabay ang Pinoy bet na si Vicky Deldio sa mga nakalabang mahuhusay na female triathletes sa 14-18 bracket.

Tumapos ang first-year college student ng University of the Philippines bilang 32nd place sa pagtatala ng  1-hour 14-minutes at 7-seconds sa 750-m swim, 20-km bike at 5-km run course.

Isa lang ang may laban sa Team Philippines nga-yon na si Ava Loreign Verdeflor sa artistic gymnastics, sa Olympic Center.
