Aroga binalikat ang NU sa 2-sunod na panalo
MANILA, Philippines - Kaya ni Cameroonian import Alfred Aroga na ilagay sa kanyang mga balikat ang National University sa 77th UAAP men’s basketball tournament.
Ngunit mas mahalaga pa rin para sa kanya ang kapakanan ng koponan.
“As far as I’m concerned, I can’t talk like an individual player because everything that matters is the team,” wika ni Aroga, “We’re just playing as a team and we don’t care about our stats. We just care about helping each other being better.”
Sa 57-55 panalo ng Bulldogs laban sa University of the East Red Warriors noong Linggo ay kumolekta ang 6-foot-7 na si Aroga ng 18 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists at block shot.
Nag-ambag naman si Aroga ng 10 boards, 6 points, 3 assists at 6 blocks sa 62-25 paglampaso ng NU sa Adamson University noong nakaraang Miyerkules.
Dahil sa kanyang kabayanihan ay hinirang si Aroga bilang UAAP Press Corps-Accel Quantum Plus/316 Player of the Week.
“He gives us that inside presence, especially in rebounding,” sabi ni Bulldogs’ head coach Eric Altamirano. “He gave us 15 rebounds. More than the points, his rebounds are very important.”
May 5-1 record ngayon ang NU kasunod ang Ateneo (4-1), UST (3-1), nagdedepensang La Salle (3-2), FEU (3-2), UE (2-3), Adamson (0-5) at UP (0-5).
Tinalo ni Aroga para sa weekly citation na inihahandog ng Bactigel hand sanitizer, Doctor J Mighty Alcohol at Mighty Mom Anti-bacteria sina Kiefer Ravena ng Ateneo at Mark Belo ng FEU.
“Each game, a different person comes out as player of the game,” wika ni Aroga. “It’s not all about a single player here. It’s about the team.”
