Pacquiao-Mayweather fight posible na? Arum, De La Hoya tinapos ang ‘Cold War’

MANILA, Philippines - Ngayong nagwakas na ang ‘Cold War’ sa pagitan nina Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions at Oscar De La Hoya ng Golden Boy Pro­mo­tions ay maitatakda na ka­ya ang Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather, Jr. super fight?

Ito ang katanungan ng mga boxing fans sa buong mundo.

Ngunit sinabi ni De La Ho­ya na hindi pa nila ito ka­agad matatalakay ni Arum.

“Maybe the next mee­ting will be working out a plan to fight Top Rank figh­ters against Golden Boy fighters,” wika ni Dela Hoya. “Maybe that will be the case in the future.”

Personal na nagtungo si De La Hoya sa tahanan ni Arum sa Beverly Hills, Ca­lifornia para tapusin ang ka­nilang sigalot.

“I did go up to his house to make peace with him,” wi­ka ni De La Hoya. “I told him, ‘Look, this meeting is not a business meeting. Let’s bury the hatchet. And who knows, maybe down the road we can work together.’ Top Rank is a major player in the boxing industry and Golden Boy is the player in the boxing industry. So why not get the two powerhouses together and make the fights that the fans want to see?”

Tatlong beses bumagsak ang negosasyon para sa laban nina Pacquiao at May­weather dahil sa iba’t ibang isyu.

Ang Golden Boy ay tu­ma­tayong co-promoter ng 37-anyos na si Mayweather.

Ngunit kung may tao mang ayaw makipag-usap kay Arum, ito ay si Richard Schaefer, ang Chief Exe­cu­tive Officer (CEO) ng Gol­­den Boy.

Halos isang buwan nang hindi nag-uusap sina De La Hoya at Schaefer, ngu­nit inaasahang magki­kita sa laban nina Maywea­ther at Marcos Maidana nga­yon sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I don’t have a problem with that if they want to make peace and make up, but to start doing business with him again - that’s just not who I am,” sabi ni Schaefer sa pagkakasunod nina De La Hoya at Arum.

Ang pagsibak kay Schaefer ang mag­bubukas ng pintuan pa­ra sa negosasyon sa Pacquiao-May­wea­ther me­ga bout.

“That’s not the case. I want him to stay. There’s no reason that he should be thinking that. I want him to stay,” ani De La Hoya.
