Sa Asian Men’s Volleyball 2 Australian spikers hinugot para palakasin ang kampanya ng Pinas

MANILA, Philippines - Dalawang Australian pla­yers ang kinuha ng Pi­li­pinas para palakasin ang men’s volleyball team na lalaro sa 2014 PLDT HOME Fibr Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship mula Abril  8 hanggang 12.

Sina Cedric Legrand at William Robert Lewis ang siyang hinugot ng Pam­bansang koponan na hawak ni coach Francis Vicente upang bigyan ng magandang laban ang host country laban sa bi­ gating Asian club teams na sasali sa kompetisyon.

Noong Lunes ay naki­pag-ensayo na sina Legrand at Lewis at natuwa si Vicente sa kanilang ipinakita.

“They quickly jelled with the boys. Their first practice with the national pool was so smooth,” wika ni Vicente.

Si Legrand ay may taas na 190 cms at mataas itong tumalon. Nakapaglaro na siya sa Australian indoor team noong 2009 at sa Vietnam noong 2010 at makailang beses na ring hinirang bilang MVP noong high school  pa lamang siya.

Sa kabilang banda, si Lewis ay may taas na 191 cms at siya ay naglalaro bilang setter.

Nasa Group A ang Pilipinas kasama ang Iraq, Kuwait at Mongolia  at kailangan nilang tumapos sa ikalawang puwesto para umabante.

“They are fast and both have impressive verticals,” pagpupuri naman ni actor-sportman Richard Gomez na inaasahang makaka­sama sa Pambansang ko­ponan.

“Our hopes are high with this team,” wika ni Philip Ella Juico na siyang Organi­zing Committee chairman. “The players are showing dedication at this very crucial moments of their training and it’s a good sign.”

Sa kalagitnaan ng buwang ito pangangalanan ni Vicente ang manlalarong bubuo sa national team at sila ay lilipat sa Thailand para sa ilang linggong pagsasanay.
