Gold na binawi kay Alkhaldi iaapela ng POC

MANILA, Philippines - Plano ng Philippine Olym­pic Committee na uma­pela sa Court of Arbitration for Sports hinggil sa binawing gold medal kay Jasmine Alkhaldi matapos ipag-utos ng swimming organizers ang ‘re-race’ sa nakaraang Southeast Asian Games sa Myanmar.

“We will find out how we could do that but definitely we will file an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sports,” wika ni POC president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco, Jr. sa general assembly sa Manila Golf sa Makati City kahapon.

“This has never happe­ned before that a medal was taken back,” dagdag pa nito.

Bumandera si Alkhaldi, produkto ng Palarong Pambansa at kasaluku­yang nag-aaral sa University of Hawaii, sa 100-meter freestyle bago ibinasura ng technical committee ng SEAG swimming competitions ang naturang resulta.

Sa re-race, ang naunang nakuhang gold ni Alkahaldi ay naging bronze matapos pumangatlo kina Junghaying ng Thailand at Quah Ting Wen ng Singapore. Umiiyak na tinanggap ni Alkhaldi ang naturang desisyon. Ngunit hindi pa rin susuko ang POC.

“We will find legal ways to get that gold back,” wika ni Cojuangco.
