Phl spikers suportado ng Smart sa SEA elims

MANILA, Philippines - Pumasok ang Smart Communications bilang sponsor ng women’s volleyball team na magla­laro sa South East Asian Qualification tournament na magsisimula bukas sa Quang Tri, Vietnam.

“Smart  is one with the Filipino nation in wishing our volleyball team great success. Let’s relive the old glory,”  wika Smart Communications chief wireless advisor Doy Vea.

Tatawaging POC-PSC Sports V-Belles, ang kopo­nang hahawakan ng bete­ranong coach na si Roger Gorayeb ay bubuuin nina Dindin at Jaja Santiago, Rubie de Leon, Myla Pablo, Jennylyn Reyes, Alyssa Valdez, Maika Ortiz, Rhea Dimaculangan, Pau Soria­no, Iari Yongco, Jheck Dionela at Suzanne Roces.

Ang magkapatid na Santiago bukod pa kina de Leon, Pablo at Reyes ay naglalaro sa National University na siyang hinirang bilang kampeon sa katatapos lang na Shakey’s V-League First Conference.

Ang Accel ay tumulong din bilang official outfitter habang ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang sumagot sa airfare ng delegasyon.

Ang koponan ay tumulak kahapon patungong Vietnam para sa tatlong araw na kompetisyon na magdedetermina kung sino ang aabante sa Asian Zonals.

Unang laro ng koponan ay ang Vietnam habang ang Indonesia at Myanmar ang iba pang kasaling bansa sa torneo.

Naunang sinabi ni Go­rayeb na tutulungan sa pagdiskarte nina NU coach Edjet Mabbayad at assistant coach Ariel dela Cruz, na gagawin ng koponan ang lahat upang hindi mapahiya ang bansa kahit pitong araw lamang sila nagsanay.

“This team was formed at short notice and had only a week’s practice. But this does not mean we won’t do our best. Lalaban pa rin kami at handang makapanggulat,” wika ni Gorayeb.
