Sadorra, 2 pa bumandera sa Pacquiao Cup chessfest

MANILA, Philippines - Umiskor ng mga panalo sina Filipino Grandmasters (GMs) Julio Catalino Sadorra, John Paul Gomez at untitled Emmanuel Emperado sa second round ng $100,000 Manny Pacquiao Cup Asian Continental Chess Championship sa Midas Hotel and Casino sa Pasay City.

Ang ikalawang sunod na panalo nina Sadorra, Gomez at Emperado ay lumikha ng isang seven-way tie para sa first place kasama sina top seed  GMs Le Quang Liem at Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son ng Vietnam, GM Mohammed Al-Sayed ng Qatar at IM Wang Chen ng China.

Tinalo ng 26-anyos na si Sadorra, isang senior business administration student sa University of Texas-Dallas, si IM Husein Aziz Nezad matapos ang 26 moves ng Slav defense, habang ginapi ni Gomez si Theolifus Taher Yoseph ng Indonesia matapos ang 46 moves ng French defens at pinayukod ni Emperado, anak ni dating Olympian WNM Mila Emperado, si GM G.N. Gopal ng India sa 35 moves ng Sicilian defense.

Giniba naman ni Le, may Elo rating ng 2714, si GM Tsegmed Batchuluun ng Mongolia sa 66 moves ng Queens Pawn Game, samantalang tinalo ni Al-Sayed si GM Parimarjan Negi ng India sa 26 moves ng Slav defense.

Pinayukod ni Wang si GM Babu Lalith ng India sa 36 moves ng Modern defense.
